Gore: Cherny Has the 'Leadership and Determination' to Take on Special Interests
July 26, 2012
Bill Clinton and Al Gore teamed up to create 23 million jobs, balance the budget and expand children's health insurance. Now they're joining forces again to support Andrei Cherny for Congress.
The former vice president endorsed Cherny, describing him as someone with the leadership and track record to take on special interest groups and create change in Washington.
"From the time Andrei started working with me in the White House 15 years ago, I've known that he has the leadership and determination to stand up for progressive values and take on special interests," Gore said. "He fought with me to take on the climate crisis, even as the Big Oil Lobby spent millions against us. And he fought to launch a consumer watchdog agency when Wall Street lobbyists spent millions to defeat them. In Congress, I know he will continue with the same tenacity and win real results for middle class families."
Cherny worked with Vice President Gore in the White House, and was the chief architect of the 2000 Democratic Platform.
"I was proud to work with and learn from Vice President Gore, and I'm honored to have his support in this campaign," said Cherny.
